Parents as Teachers Home Visitation Program

Parents As Teachers:
Parents as Teachers served 45 families in 2020, providing in-home services over the majority of the fiscal year, and continuing to support the families online via Zoom visits once the pandemic hit our area. Families were grateful to have the continued support of their home visitor during such stressful and uncertain times!
Parents As Teachers:
- Provides you with a Home Visitor who supports you and helps you be the best parent you can be
- Helps reduce the stress of parenting
- Connects you to the services you and your family need
- Teaches you activities that encourage positive parent/child interactions, and supports the growth and development of your child
- Provides developmental screenings for your child
- Helps you set goals
- Helps you prepare your child to successfully enter school at age 5.

Who is eligible?
Residents of Bethel, Bridgewater, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Newtown, Redding, Ridgefield, and Sherman who are expecting a baby or who have a child under the age of five.
How do parents get connected with the program?
Parents can refer themselves for services. Or referrals can be made by doctors, childcare providers, social service workers, or anyone who works with young families.

- Healthcare resources
- Food, nutrition and other "basic needs"
- Periodic developmental, health, vision, and hearing screenings
- Free book and literacy programs
- Affordable childcare and preschool programs.
