Full-Time Home Visitor - Provides in-home parenting support for parents who have been identified through a standardized assessment tool as having risk factors. These helpful and supportive visits assist high risk families in learning more about their pregnancy, their child, parenting skills and empowerment. The Home Visitor will also aid the family in location of social resources and services that can strengthen their family unit. Home visits may include assistance with household management, stress and time management, parenting strategies and behavior management techniques. 40 hours per week, includes some required evening and occasional weekend hours for events. Grant funded, non-exempt position. Must have advanced English Language skills. Bilingual Spanish/English or Multilingual a plus. Will need own vehicle. $24-$26 per hour. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assist pregnant mothers in obtaining adequate prenatal care
2. Assists assigned families with parenting skills and linkages to needed resources
3. Documents progress and linkages in client files according to the standards of FNWC and funding requirements
4. Carefully gathers information and responds to families assigned for service
5. Ensures client confidentiality by maintaining up to date releases of information in each client chart
6. Visits/contacts assigned families and provides visits as assigned
7. Attends self-initiated and assigned training
8. Plans and facilitates monthly group meetings for families to learn about child and family relationships and development
9. Completes Ages and Stages Screening and other assigned screens for families as appropriate
0. Advocates for assigned families within the service delivery system as evidenced by supervisory sessions
11. Assumes responsibility for planning and implementation of outreach activities for the program
12. Maintains contact with area resources and utilizes programs to obtain needed household items for client families
13. Provides and updates psycho-educational materials that support parent-child interaction and child development
14. Participates actively on community task forces and committees as assigned
15. Suggests and assists in implementing strategies which positively impact service and workflow
16. Reports Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly to the Clinical Supervisor
17. Ensures compliance with Families Network standards and funding regulations.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services, Early Childhood or Child Development with a minimum of two years’ experience working with young children and families
2. Knowledge of child abuse and neglect (mandated reporting) statutes preferred
3. Ability to operate independently
4. Must have reliable, insured transportation to conduct site visits. Valid Driver’s License Required.
5. Demonstrate ability to problem solve
6. Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
7. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time, walk several flights of stairs and lift or carry up to thirty (30) pounds
8. Basic computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel) required
9. A strong understanding of cultural competence and sensitivity
